Dr. Kimo Smith in Recital

Celebrating our organ's Centennial Year!

The recital is being held to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the congregation's recently restored; internationally known and renowned Skinner Pipe Organ, Opus 224.  This one of a kind organ was dedicated February 7, 1915.  The instrument is the  oldest Skinner Organ in its original location on the west coast, and the fourth oldest Skinner Organ in the U.S., and the oldest known extant Skinner Organ to be constructed of exclusively Skinner made pipes  The Baroque, three-manual Organ consists of 22 stops, 16 ranks, and 947 pipes.
The congregation is pleased to welcome the critically acclaimed Organist Dr. Kimo Smith of Loma Linda, California as the guest organist for the recital.  Dr. Smith is an Associate Professor of Music at La Sierra University and past chair of the Department of Music, and the organist at both University Church of Seventh-day Adventists in Loma Linda and the First Presbyterian Church of Hollywood California.
Over the past one hundred years, many thousands of Walla Wallan’s and others have found inspiration, joy and comfort through the music offered to the Glory of God through this unique instrument.  We invite the community to share in this once in a lifetime opportunity to celebrate this magnificent instrument and the message it has been dedicated to convey.
